WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??????? I have just about had it with airport security. They come under fire because they allow 3 planes to be hijacked by terrorists and kill thousands of innocent people, so now to rectify the problem they feel they can harass anyone they wish. Let's get one thing straight here. Security does indeed need to be increased at our airports. However, let's remember what we are securing ourselves against. TERRORISTS! Not the elderly woman who beeped going through the metal detector because she just had knee replacement and had metal pieces implanted in her knee. Not the woman who had a double mastectomy just prior to her flight and set off the metal detectors with the pins implanted in her chest (who by the way had ALL her medical paperwork with her, including x-rays, that the airport security refused to look at to back up her story) and certainly not the women who are breastfeeding their babies and have bottled up their breast milk to feed their infants on the plane. Airport security actually forced these woman to drink their own breast milk (which therefore contaminated the breast milk, rendering it no longer any good to feed the child with) in order to prove it was not liquid explosives! COME ON PEOPLE! Yes, we wanted airport security increased, but for the love of all that is holy, use common sense! You are NOT increasing our security by wasting time on "randomly" searching travelers like Al Gore...former VP. Spend the time searching travelers that actually might be terrorists! This is WAY out of hand and it needs to be brought under control immediately. So Germany isn't going to have our backs if we fight Saddam. Excuse me if I recap back to say, oh I don't know, the 1940's MAYBE!!!!!!!!!!!! Germany owes us big time, and I mean big time. And don't even get me STARTED about France! Lesbian WNBA fans are all up in arms in New York. Why you ask? According to them, they want "recognition" at the New York Liberty games because they make up a large amount of the fan base. They claim to want the "same recognition that everyone else gets" at sporting events. Well being the major sports fan that I am, lets see if I can relate, shall we? I am a 27 year old straight female. I attend anywhere from 10-20 Red Sox games a season, 10-15 Bruins games a season, and the occasional Celtics and Patriots games. Now I try to recall out of all these games if I have ever been "recognized" and my answer is NO! Should I demand a big neon "Thank You Heterosexual Females For Coming to Friendly Fenway Park!" Or perhaps a "Welcome to the Boston Bruins, 27 year old Heterosexual Females!" flashing across the board at the Fleet Center. The lesbians were a bit miffed at the fact that, while attending a game on Gay Pride Day, the New York Liberty did not wish them a "Happy Gay Pride Day." This is all true....I kid you not. And to actively protest their nonrecognition, last week during each time out at the Liberty game, the lesbians would stand up and kiss. This is too ridiculous for words. Not only are they not making any kind of point whatsoever, but any respect they are trying to get from society is going down the drain. It's one thing to want equality and acceptance, but this is way overboard. We accept you and your gayness, but to demand that you be specially recognized because of your sexual preference is ludicrous and then to act like you have absolutely no class at all and create this display in front of the entire stadium (including children) is just plain wrong. This is not helping your cause...in fact, it's doing the exact opposite. Me personally...I don't care if you're gay or not. What goes on in your life is your business and I have no problem with that. DO NOT, however, feel you have the right to push whatever you may do in other people's faces. Some people just don't want to see it, and that should be respected, just as you would like your sexual preference to be respected. Yup, we've all heard by now...there is a man in New York who is suing fast food chains including McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's and KFC. The lawsuit claims that these restaurants made the man obese. Excuse me for one moment....... ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay, sorry about that. When on earth are people going to start taking responsibility for their own actions? I don't recall armed gunmen standing outside the entrances of these restaurants forcing American citizens to go in and order Big Macs and Whoppers every day, three times a day. If you are an American (and even if you aren't) it is automatic knowledge that fast foods contain high amounts of fat. And unless you live in a cave, you also know that eating this type of food constantly can contribute to being overweight. We all know the consequences of our actions, so a choice must be made. If I shot someone, I'd have to pay the consequences by going to jail. If I eat 60 fast food cheeseburgers a month, I know the consequences would be getting fat. Therefore, I make a conscious decision to not engage in the behavior that would lead to these consequences! HOW SIMPLE IS THAT????? People should be charged for bringing about such frivolous lawsuits. This is a waste our taxpayers' money! Email Missa with comments at missa.capozzo@verizon.net |
