A Few Words

Prepare To Be Annoyed Every day I watch the news and just sit there shaking my head in disbelief, frustration, and disgust. There's one question I ask myself daily:

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???????

Where I Lie on the Political Compass - Part 1

During an exchange of emails, an online friend of mine has inspired me to write the following article with the intent of explaining exactly where I stand with many political issues, those of which my opinions would determine which political party I lean more towards. Although I tend to agree more with right-wing ideologies, there are many issues in which I completely agree with the liberal left-wingers...not many, but some. So in a nutshell, I am going to compose a synopsis of where I lie within the political compass. Because there are so many issues which I have opinions about, I will include just a few in each of a series of several articles. The following are the first of several:

Taxes- I'm completely right-wing on this one. The idea of having the wealthier citizens support the poorer citizens is just bullshit. If a person living in the US has a brain, 2 arms and 2 legs, then get a friggin job, pay your percentage of taxes, and shut the hell up. If you make $20,000 a year and pay let's say 5% of your income in taxes (obviously this percentage is strictly for example purposes), that is $1,000. If your yearly income is $100,000, then you pay $10,000 in taxes per year. Why is that not fair? Why shouldn't the poor and the rich pay the same percentage of what they make? Just because someone is successful in their career means they should pay for the failure of others? What kind of inspiration is that? If the poor realize that they don't need to strive to do their best to support themselves and their families because the rich will make up the slack, then why would they even try? What's fair is fair...if I'm working my ass off to make $100,000 a year, I'll be damned if I'm going to be forced to pay a higher percentage of my income than those in a lower tax bracket to help the slacker that is making $20,000 a year. And I swear to GOD if I hear people say "Well daycare costs so much, and how will I support my children," my response is this...if you can't afford kids, why the HELL are you having them? As if this world isn't over populated enough. Which brings me to my next issue.

Welfare- Those who are able to work and refuse the opportunity should not expect society's support. Where does anyone get off expecting the hard work of others to support them? Stop living off the fat of our land and take responsibility for yourselves! Welfare should be completely eliminated. In fact, the only kind of financial aid the government should offer US citizens is in the form of aid for war veterans and aid for the elderly. THAT'S IT! There is NO reason why anyone who isn't an invalid can't get a job. Can't support your kids? Gee, perhaps you should've thought about that before you had them. How DARE you bring a child into this world that you know you can't afford and then expect society to pay for it. Not only that, but chances are that if you can't afford to have your child (or in most cases these days, multiple children) but keep popping them out, what kind of parent are you going to make anyway? You are clearly incapable of making a responsible decision for yourself, so how can you be expected to make any kind of responsible parenting decisions concerning your child? These welfare mothers who continue to pop out kids, live in squalor, barely function as a parent in any way, don't discipline their kids, feed them nothing but McDonald's food, somehow are able to afford Tommy Hilfiger sneakers that the kid will outgrow in a month, and participate in behaviors in front of their children, such as smoking weed, drinking, having god knows who stay at the house within any given time, are creating the future juvenile delinquents and criminals of our country. Don't get me wrong, I don't blame the kids. When a child has gone through life watching his mother sit on her fat ass everyday while collecting her welfare check on the 1st and 15th of the month, only to take the government's money (aka YOUR tax dollars) and spend it on her fake nails, her Ralph Lauren clothes, the children's meals at KFC and Burger King three times a day, and let's not forget the 40 oz. of malt beverage required each night, the child obviously knows nothing else. Why should this child strive and work hard to make something of himself when he's watched his mother live off society his whole life? People, especially children, live by example. These typical welfare mothers who pop out kid after kid after kid are NO example. The welfare system was a good idea when it originated. Everybody needs a little helpful boost every now and then, but in the past 20 years, it has gotten WAY out of control. People don't use it as a little helpful boost anymore, they use it as a crutch, and will continue to do so as long as it is available. It is truly a shame, because I am sure there are many people out there on welfare who do not abuse the system. Unfortunately for those few, the majority do in fact abuse it, therefore ruining it for everyone.

Public Education/Vouchers- The public school system should be privatized and allow competition to improve education. The public school system is atrocious in this country, and continuously pouring money into it hasn't worked so far, nor will it work in the future. Parents should have the absolute right to choose which school his or her child will attend, end of story. The funding that has gone into our public school systems has increased drastically every year, yet our school systems continue to get worse and worse. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize that dumping more money into the failed school system isn't going to fix the problem. All it does is create more wasteful spending. If schools were privatized and financially run as a business, just watch our educational system soar. If a parent has a choice on which school to send his or her child to, it is only logical that the schools that provide the highest quality education with the most qualified teachers will be the schools of choice. Why don't the liberals want this to happen? Well it's actually quite simple. If schools become privatized, the government won't be able to control a damn thing they teach. They won't be able to ban the word "forefathers" from the textbooks, they won't be able to ban Halloween celebrations (because liberals consider Halloween to be representative of the Wiccan religion,) they won't be able to force courses in understanding the Koran, they won't be able to ban the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance. I could go on for hours here, but do you see my point? The liberals will have no control in implementing classes that brainwash our schoolchildren into being swayed towards left-wing agendas. Government has no place in our school system, period. Run it like a business, and I guarantee the people out there striving to be successful in business will produce high school graduates far more brilliant and far superior to those we have ever seen before, perhaps even giving Japan a run for their money for once!

Women's Rights/Women's Lib.- Besides the ACLU, NOW is probably the human rights organization I despise the most. They continue to preach that they fight for women's rights, but all they do is make my gender look ridiculous. As far as I'm concerned, humans should have equal rights in every arena, regardless of gender, race, religion, etc. There are times, however, when it doesn't hurt anyone if certain clubs/orgs are men only and certain clubs/orgs are women only. I used to be a certified personal fitness trainer at a "women only" gym in Natick, Ma. During my employment there, there was a vote on Beacon Hill which would decide if women only gyms would be outlawed. Well all the women in Massachusetts were completely up in arms, all bent out of shape because they should be able to exercise where they feel most comfortable, including gyms that did not allow men. Okay....I agree with that, absolutely. However, many of these same women were the ones bitching about the possibility of male only gyms. The most popular complaint I heard was that men's gyms have heavier and/or better weight lifting equipment, so for those women who train like men, this would be totally unfair for them to be left out. Okay, do you see the hypocrisy here? If certain golf courses/country clubs are men only, LET THE MEN HAVE THAT! Why do women feel they should be able to compete or always play amongst the men, but god forbid if the men complain about women having their own facilities...all hell breaks loose because the women feel violated and want their privacy. What do you women have to prove, anyway? What is the problem here? You feel you MUST compete in golf with the men...get bent! These women who want to compete with males in sports crack me up. Let the men have their thing and let them be able to enjoy it. If you want to play sports, form your own women's league or join an existing co-ed league. I don't care how wonderfully talented you think you are, but I assure you, if you were to play with men, biology tells us that it's really no contest...the men win, end of story. If women can have their own clubs and orgs, then the men can too. No wonder why men can't deal with women! Jeez!
Now my REAL issue about women's lib. is the following: If you are a woman and want to have a career...wonderful! I applaud you! But let me just say this...you are a mental defective if you think you can raise a healthy family and have your CEO position in the "male world" at the same time. It's not because you are a woman that you can't handle this...it's because you are human and NO ONE can handle this. If you think you can work a 60 work week with the responsibilities of a CEO and effectively raise your children, you are sadly and tragically lying to yourself. One will suffer, and unfortunately, it is almost always the children. Have you noticed since the women's lib. movement, our youth has literally gone to shit? Why is that, you ask? Because most kids today in two parent homes come home to either an empty house or a nanny. One of my best friends is a nanny, and the stories I hear amaze me. The parents feel so guilty for not being there all the time (working instead of being with their children) that there is literally ZERO discipline in the home. The kids can get away with whatever they damn well please because the parents feel too guilty to discipline them. The kids, therefore, have no respect for the parents what-so-ever, they learn nothing about manners, respect, quality time. Thank god my friend is a wonderful nanny who doesn't hesitate to discipline these children, because if it wasn't for her, they would most certainly be guaranteed a future of juvenile delinquency. Thanks to their nanny, they at least have a fighting chance, but most kids aren't so lucky. So my outlook on women and careers is this: if you want a full blown career in the male dominated work force, go for it. But don't you dare bring children into this world that will have to schedule an appointment just to see you. If having children is more important, then by all means, have kids, but don't gyp them of a mother. My mom could've been a CEO of almost anything, she is so brilliant, but she chose to have two children in her 20's. So she did the responsible thing...she raised her children at home, and when we were old enough to be in school, she worked in an office part time to make sure my brother and I never came home to an empty house or to a nanny. After we were old enough, she started up a new career. She sacrificed her career because she wanted children, and I applaud her for that. If she had wanted her career more, she wouldn't have had us so a nanny could raise us. The only other option is the following: if you and your husband can come to this agreement, then why not let him be the stay-at-home dad? As every mother out there knows, raising children is a full time job in it's own, so I see nothing wrong with the male taking on this role while the mother excels in her career. It doesn't matter whether it is the mother or the father, as long as the children have a full time parent. However, this is reality, ladies...you can't have both the excelling, full time career and the ability to successfully raise your children!!!!! Pick one, because if you try for both, one will suffer.

More issues to be covered in my next article...stay tuned!
