WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??????? Chicago Gone Mad! What the hell is going on with Chicago White Sox fans? Last night a fan rushed onto the field and tried to tackle the first-base umpire at Comiskey Park during a White Sox vs. Kansas City Royals game. This tackle attempt occurred a mere 100 feet from where the shirtless father and son tag-team attacked the Royals first-base coach last September. But that's not all, my friends... three times earlier last night, the game was delayed three separate times when security guards tackled fans attempting to run onto the field. What are they putting in the water at Comiskey Park? Perhaps the vendors at the park got hold of some beef contaminated with Mad Cow disease, causing hamburger-eating fans to spark a sudden surge of insanity and rage that can only be released by charging whoever is standing near first-base. If anyone has justification to run out and charge someone on the baseball field, it's Boston Red Sox fans! It still amazes me to this day that Bill Buckner got off scott free after that disgrace during Game 6 of the '86 World Series. Had that little incident occurred in 2002 instead of 1986, I can say with great confidence that Bill Buckner would've been shot right at first base after his little mishap, with the bullet coming somewhere from the stands. In fact, that crazed sharp shooting fan could've even been me! I'm still traumatized from Mr. Buckner's faux pas that 25th evening of October, 1986. I remember it like it was yesterday. There I was, a girl of 12 years old in my bedroom watching the game on the edge of my bed, probably chewing my nails to bits with anxiety. Then it happened...Mookie Wilson's ground ball rolled right through Buckner's legs, allowing the winning run to score in overtime. There I sat, stunned, shocked, in total disbelief of what I had just witnessed. My impressionable, fragile young mind couldn't quite handle that amount of shock and disappointment, and the tears just poured out of my eyes for hours. I had spent that entire season keeping score of every single game, every run, every strike, every ball, every wild pitch. To say I was a fan was an understatement, and Buckner's Blunder shattered my young heart and caused me to lose faith in anything ever again!!! AND NOW PEOPLE WONDER WHY I AM SO HOSTILE ALL THE TIME??????????????????????????????? Anyway, like I was saying, if anyone has an excuse to charge the field like a Mexican running for the border, it would be Boston fans. Year after year it's nothing but disappointment and aggravation. Do we learn our lesson? Nooooo. Every April you hear the same thing on every street corner: "This is the year....we're going all the way this year!", and every September you hear the same thing on every street corner: "Hey, there's always next year." But these Chicago fans, I just don't understand what is going on with them and their sudden flood of ambushings. Perhaps it's the fact that they haven't won a World Series Championships since 1917. Hey guys, we hear ya over here in Boston!! We haven't won a Series since 1918! Maybe we do have more in common than I thought!
