WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE??????? My Parents Vacationed in Texas and All I Got Was This Lousy Piece of Debris! Humanity has hit an all time low. The explosion of the Columbia space shuttle is a truly sad, unfortunate event. As rigid of a person as I may be, even this tragic event evoked emotion out of me. It is of the utmost importance for NASA to thoroughly investigate and determine the cause of the explosion so it never happens again. Yet as per usual, there are those people that are completely void of brain cells, tact, and heart getting in the way. The debris of the Columbia spans out from California to Louisiana. NASA officials have alerted citizens in those areas to report any sightings of possible debris. They have also warned these people to not handle this debris ...toxic agents may be present and anyone who comes in contact with this debris will need to be decontaminated. I have seen this warning on each of my local news channels, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and each of the national network news programs...the word is out there. In this day and age, not much I hear about the actions of people surprises me, but I have to admit, as I was working at my computer the other day with Fox News on my office tv, the following report truly shocked me: PEOPLE ARE STEALING PIECES OF DEBRIS AS "SOUVENIRS" AND SELLING THEM ON EBAY!!!!!! Have we truly hit rock bottom? Do people have absolutely zero conscious or respect left anymore? First of all, what category would you list this "souvenir" under on EBay? Perhaps Toxic Treasures, or maybe Shuttle Scraps? Secondly, what complete ass would actually BUY this? It is bad enough that some moron actually thought "Hey, check it out....here's part of the Columbia! I bet we could get big bucks for this baby!" and decided to post it on EBay, but to think an even bigger ass would pay to own a keepsake from this tragedy is even more sad. I wonder if the thought ever crossed the seller's pea-sized brains that maybe their particular piece does in fact contain toxic elements and therefore exposed them. But then again, who cares? After all, they could make mad cash off this! Who cares if they grow 4 eyes and webbed feet? People, people, people. I know this world is a giant cesspool of scum bags, but really...this has taken us to new heights. Now I know it is a very common thing to cash in on someone else's tragedy. Hell, if it wasn't, this site wouldn't even exist! (Actually, that's not true...we don't make a dime from any of this...we just hope to get a few laughs.) But this has gone too far. Not only is it a slap in the face to the victims and their grieving families, but keeping/selling off these extremely important pieces of evidence make it that much more difficult for the NASA investigators to pinpoint exactly what happened so they can prevent it from happening again. Maybe if you pieces of slime had actually finished high school, you'd have a decent job with a decent salary and wouldn't have to sell off pieces of Columbia debris so you could upgrade to the double-wide trailer you've always dreamed about. The last news report I have heard on this matter is that many of these debris thieves have been arrested (thank god). I hope you rot in a jail cell for a very, very long time, and make a happy life for yourself with your cell mate/boyfriend Bubba. My only hope for the future of space exploration is that we will reach a day when we will have daily shuttle trips to outer space...the purpose of these daily trips will be to open the door and kick these types of scum bags in the ass, releasing them into outer space and rid the earth of them. That will solve our overpopulated prison problem. Email Missa with any comments at: missa.capozzo@verizon.net |
