A Few Words

Prepare To Be Annoyed Every day I watch the news and just sit there shaking my head in disbelief, frustration, and disgust. There's one question I ask myself daily:

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE???????

Where There is Religion, There Is War

(This article is dedicated to all the morons protesting the probable war against Iraq, as well as the blind, naive liberals who refuse to believe there is a threat against us.) There will never be such a thing as peace on this planet. War is inevitable among even the most "civilized" of people. Why, you ask? Because it is human nature. And contrary to popular belief, the main reason people of the modern (and not-so-modern) world fight wars is not due to oil, it is due to religion. (just for the record, only about 16% of the U.S. oil supplies come from the Middle East.) I have said this for years and I will stand by this statement until the day I die...THERE WILL NEVER BE PEACE AS LONG AS THERE IS RELIGION OF ANY KIND.

I refuse to endorse any religion, as well as anything that remotely resembles religion. Common sense won't allow me to. I believe every religion in existence is merely mythology, created and believed in out of desperation, the human desire to know where we, the earth, and the universe came from. Humans are so desperate for some kind of answer that they will put all their faith and trust into myths and tales, no matter how illogical they may be. Their desire to have the “right answer” is expressed by trying to convert the entire world to their beliefs. Disagree? Please, I beg you, go to your local bookstore or library and start reading and researching mythology dating as far back as 1900 BC, which would be Ancient Sumerian mythology. Follow that through Egyptian mythology, Greek mythology, all the way until you reach Islam, Buddhism, Hebrew scripture, and finally Western Christianity. It will be like de-ja-vu every time you explore a new myth...it is the same stories told over and over, yet with the names changed. Like most story tellers, each "religion" puts its own twist on each story and calls it their own. Then each group of believers fight over whose version is the correct version. I have news for all the believers...no one's version is correct. The truth of the matter is, human beings are too emotionally weak to accept that we simply do not know the answers. We don't know how the universe came to be or how life began...I can admit that and have no problem with that. But it seems that the human desire to need an explanation is so strong, they'll believe literally anything and back it up with "it's God's way."

I'm not saying that there isn't a higher being, there certainly may be, but that's the point...I do not know, nor does anyone else on this planet, so I'm not going to take some ancient storyteller's imaginative fables as valid. Myths began because ancient humans couldn't explain nature, such as thunderstorms, the changing of the seasons, life and death, the stars in the sky, the sun rising and setting, good and evil. The only way they could explain such occurrences was to make up stories. Zeus was the god of thunder and cast vicious storms upon the earth when the humans had angered him. The change of the seasons followed the cycle of life, death, and rebirth...a parallel to human life, death, and after life in heaven. The great flood was God's way of punishing the humans in literally EVERY civilization we know of, from Gilgamesh in Ancient Sumerian mythology all the way to Noah and his ark in modern Judeo-Christianity. Do you see where I am going with this? Ancient myths sound ridiculous today when we read them, like fairy tales, and they do so because we now have modern science to explain the real reason these occurrences happen. We now understand the scientific reason for thunderstorms and floods, for the change of the seasons, we understand that illnesses lead to death, not punishment from the gods. Science now explains what was once a great mystery to mankind, a mystery that was then believed to be an act of the gods. So why is it so hard to see that the modern religions of today are just as illogical and fable-like as the ancient mythological beliefs? Hell, half of the stories in the Bible are converted ancient myths anyway! I'll tell you why people can't see the parallels...they don't want to. Human beings are petrified of what else might or might not be out there. The thought of there possibly being no heaven or no afterlife is devastating to most, and human emotional weakness can't handle such fear and devastation.

Through the millenniums and up until even today, humans have held onto a number of altered myths, and these myths have become what we now call "religions." Each religion has a missionary obligation to spread their faith, although each has different ways of going about this. Some knock on your front door and hand you a pamphlet to read at your leisure, others brainwash the naive, and others murder innocent people in their insane quest to convert the entire world into believing their chosen religion by flying airplanes into large skyscrapers. It is apparent that even slight differences in beliefs can lead to disputes, war, and tragedy. It has always been a question of mine why civilizations and cultures can’t live peacefully amongst themselves. What I have come to realize is that most people hold so much faith and belief in their religions that they believe they are doing right by trying to spread their religion on to non-believers. Those of faith truly believe they are doing the right thing, regardless of lives lost and rights infringed upon, and that, my friends, is truly scary.

You think the United States going into an organized war-with rules, against the devil himself, Saddam Hussein, in order to prevent the mass murders of thousands upon thousands of innocent people is morally wrong, yet Muslims declaring a holy war upon non-believers in the name of Allah is justified because that is their religious belief? That is such CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Religion is not a justifiable excuse for ANYTHING because it is an unproven, ridiculous stretch of the imagination created solely to ease the curiosity of desperate human beings. War is not over oil, people. Wars have been fought since the dawn of time in the name of religion, and the War on Terrorism as well as the inevitable War on Iraq are no exceptions. We are not fighting for oil. We are fighting in defense of our freedoms to believe and not believe whatever we choose. The nations in the Middle East and other Muslim countries have been taught to hate the west since birth, and that hatred is completely based in their religious beliefs and their quest to convert the world. Israel and the United States are the most hated because we are the two nations that have enough balls to stick up for ourselves and our freedoms. The Palestinians have been at war with Israel for decades over land they each consider to be their holy land. The arab nations back up the Palestinians because they too are arabs, and as we all know, arabs stick together! The US backs up Israel because it is morally right...the Israelis have made MORE than generous attempts to split up the land being fought over, but the Palestinians have an "all or nothing" policy. The Palestinians carry out countless terrorist acts upon innocent Israeli civilians, including women and children, all in the name of their religion! Yet when we defend Israel in various ways, including keeping them (as well as ourselves) safe by wanting to disarm Saddam Hussein of weapons of mass destruction, everyone claims we are doing it for oil. The US only gets 16% of its oil supplies from the Middle East! I assure you, we are not willing to risk thousands of American and innocent Iraqi civilians' lives for some oil! You have got to remember, the main goal in these people's lives is to spread their religion and convert the world, no matter what the cost...they are willing to blow themselves up in suicide missions, for cripes sake! If that isn't proof enough that the lack of peace in this world is religion based, I don't know what is. We are not starting a new war, my friends...we are defending ourselves and our freedoms against a war that has been going on for thousands of years.

I consider it a wonderful thing to be able to NOT believe in a religion while my next door neighbor goes to church every Sunday, and his neighbor goes to Temple. It is a wonderful thing to be able to use your own knowledge, common sense, and/or beliefs to choose what is right for you, and I'll be damned if I am going to have a group of storytellers impose their ridiculous beliefs on me. If they want to live their life as a dedicated Muslim, that's fine! By all means, what ever gets you through the night, but keep that shit to yourselves! This attempt of worldly conversion has been going on for millenniums, and as made obvious to us blind Americans (who conveniently turn our heads the other way when this goes on in other areas of the world) by the September 11 attacks, which were in the supposed name of jihad, it will probably continue on for millenniums to come. Until humans can live with the fact that we simply cannot explain how the universe was created, there will always be the need for faith in mythology, or as most people call it, religion. With the presence of different religions on the earth, each one fighting to make others believe that their religion is the right answer, there will always be conflict, and I see no real chance at true peace in the future at all. After 2000+ years, the human race is still fighting over who’s religion is the right answer, and the there is no possibility of the entire world coming to an agreement on religion.
